About the Ag Club

The University of Lethbridge Agricultural Students' Society was established in 1996. Over the years it has been a community for students and staff on campus who are interested in the Agriculture industry and being surrounded by like minded individuals. Below are some events that the club hosts to encourage community and give back to the industry. 
Industry Night

Every year in the fall the Ag Club hosts an industry night to foster relationship between students who are looking for a job within the industry and companies that are hiring. With the unknown that Covid-19 brings what this looks like in the fall of 2020 has yet to be determined.

Barn Burner

Starting in 2016 this annual event has become one of the clubs largest fundraisers. Proceeds from this large dance are donated to a charity of the clubs choice at the end of the year coincided with the clubs Gala. 

Tours

Every year the club sets up tours within Industry to further educate members. In the past these have included a feedlot tour, a sugar beet tour, a brewery tour and a feed lot tour. The tours are dependent on the interests of the club members and availability within industry. 

Educational Opportunities

There are many different avenues for educational opportunities through being in the club. These opportunities can range from hosting events such as succession planning, to making sure club members are aware of conferences that sponsor students.

Ag Awareness

In February to coincide with Canadian Ag Day the Ag Club hosts an Ag Awareness day on campus to give students and staff the opportunity to learn and ask questions about the industry in an open and safe environment. 

Grow the Future Gala

This event takes place annually in March. It brings together industry members and organizations along with students to network and learn within the agricultural community. It highlights a keynote speaker along with a silent auction to raise funds for the clubs charity of choice. 

Club Socializing Events

The Ag Club hosts events for students to socialize and network with each other. This has included corn mazes, bowling parties, axe throwing, learn to curl, and so much more. This is dependent on club members interests. 

Volunteer Work

The Ag Club participates in different volunteer work to give back to community and industry. In the past this has included covering silage pits, walking dogs, polishing tractors, donating blood, and helping set up for events.
